Birds of the wetlands (six photos)

This is a collection of bird photos that I captured recently in our local wetlands. I was most excited about the great blue heron. Normally he stays on the opposite side of the river and is tough to get close to, but this time he was near my side and I was able to get a couple good shots of him. The cedar waxwing was another one I was very happy to have gotten close enough to and that he stayed put for long enough to photograph. Also shown are a lesser scaup (the duck), a goldfinch, a red-winged blackbird and a Franklin’s gull that I managed to capture in flight. Click on the individual photos to see larger versions and exif details.

If you enjoy my photographs please consider making a purchase. All of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to help support our friends volunteering at the Seed of Hope in South Africa which is a great organization really making a difference in the community. Every little bit makes a difference, even a small digital download for your desktop!
