I managed to capture one nice meteorite last night, part of the 2016 Perseid meteor shower. I probably could have gotten a few more, but I had to keep clearing the condensation off of my lens so I could only photograph for a few minutes at a time. This was a nice bright one though, that made it all worthwhile. Taken out at Elk Island National Park in central Alberta.

Thanks K’lee, I know how you feel it’s so easy to sleep instead of get out there, I’ve done it many times myself, and missed a lot of aurora borealis opportunities.
Now that’s something I’d have to set an alarm for!
Yes that’s for sure. Once in a while it starts earlier in the evening, but a lot of the time it doesn’t come out until 2am…
I remember being in Alaska for the first time. It was summer and I’d gone out to a club with friends. We were heading home at one in the morning and I saw that bizarre phenomenon of the sun not setting, but hanging in the sky at a weird angle. I’d never have seen it if I wasn’t out at that hour so I know what you mean.
That is something I want to see one of these years, must be very weird
